Sharing: albums, libraries and the check before you send
One row per shared album, shared library or link, with who is in it, whether it sends full-size copies, who can add or delete and whether location is on; and a short check to run before photos leave your phone.
Optional on a first pass until you share something; then the check is essential for any photo of someone else or any album that sends location. A reader who skips the sheet can still share; what they lose is knowing later which albums exist, who can delete from them and whether location went out. It is the sheet Sharing photos fills.
Shares
One row per album, library or link you share. Location is "not checked" until you have looked at one photo as a recipient sees it.
Before you share
Run this before a new album or a photo of someone else goes out.
How to use this sheet
- One row per album, library or link. A shared library for the household is one row; an album for grandparents is another.
- Settings as you saw them. "Full size or smaller" and "location" are what you checked, on one photo, as a recipient sees it. "Not checked" is an honest answer.
- Who can add or delete is the column that matters most: in a shared library, every participant can delete.
- Run the check before a new album goes out and before you post anyone else, especially children.
The example row is the Okafors' album for Grace's mother, Joy Adeyemi (fictional): a Google Photos shared album where anyone with the link can view and add, with Share photo locations switched off and checked on one photo. Full size is marked "not known" because Google's help pages do not state the resolution recipients get.
The sheet records your settings; it cannot control what people do with a photo once they have it. A shared album is not a backup. Questions about publishing other people's photos, copyright and privacy law are for a lawyer.
